Jess was over the moon to be a part of this year’s The Secret Policeman Tour, which, in collaboration with Deborah Frances-White (The Guilty Feminist) and Amnesty International, took place in Edinburgh, Manchester and London. It has been over forty years since the first Secret Policeman’s event, and this year a truly spectacular line up came together to support Amnesty International, including Rachel Parris, Nish Kumar, Desiree Burch, Rosie Jones and Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Siobhan McSweeney from Derry Girls. Jess performed a hilarious number featuring an energetic blend of comic impressions and powerful vocals, featuring voices we know and love such as Kate Bush, and newer additions to her repertoire.
This year’s tour featured an incredible and inspiring host of musicians, activists, comedians, actors and speakers who came together to fight for human rights through comedy, poetry, music and discussion. A newly revamped version of the tour, the line-up reflected those whose ‘human rights are most routinely eroded’ (Deborah Frances-White, The Sunday Post) and the entire evening was truly powerful.
